Finding the Light

Happy woman with arms out in the mountainsWith the change of seasons, we’re facing more darkness during the daytime hours. It’s not an easy shift to get used to for several reasons. Particularly in the Northeast, we need to be on the lookout for light.

When the natural form of light, sunshine, hits your skin, it will create vitamin D. This vitamin is necessary because it contributes to the production of serotonin.

What is Serotonin?

It’s our neuromodulator, or in other words, our happy juice! It’s responsible for making you feel good, alive and happy.

And serotonin converts into melatonin, which you’ve likely heard of because of its association with helping people sleep well.

So, finding the light and making sure it sinks into your skin can be highly beneficial, in more ways than one!

A Light Connection to Chiropractic

Speaking of light, if you’re familiar with chiropractic, you’ve probably heard of a subluxation. Breaking that word down, “lux” refers to light. The entire meaning refers to that subluxation produces a less-than-ideal expression of light in the body.

Chiropractic is a way to allow for more light in your life, too!
