Keep Your Immune System Strong This Season

Woman with appleIn case you were not aware, the presence of viruses in our body does not automatically lead to illness. Our immune system is continuously stimulated by viruses at low levels that help us develop resistance to other infections. We get sick or experience symptoms when the viral load overwhelms our immune system.

If the current pandemic has taught us anything, it is the importance of maintaining a strong and healthy immune system to create a greater resistance to viruses and other infections.

Here are five ways you can immediately boost your immune system:

Chiropractors address areas of spinal nerve stress (subluxations). Gentle adjustments to the spine help reduce nerve stress and improve function of all the organs responsible for a healthy immune system.

Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables and reduce sugar, alcohol and processed foods.

Spend 30 minutes, 4-5 times per week with a focus on equal amounts of cardio, strength and flexibility.

During sleep, we release certain chemicals that help us combat infection and decrease inflammation. Adults require 7-8 hours per night, teenagers need 8-10 hours and children ages 6-12 need 10-12 hours.??

Drink water until your urine is mostly clear or straw yellow in color. General guidelines suggest drinking 50% of your body weight in ounces each day; e.g., if you weigh 150 pounds, you should be drinking 75 ounces of water.??
